problem with intro media and dvd start

hi,

i made a menu-based dvd (with intro video and still menus), everything was fine but i got the "no looping sound"-error cause i had the 2.0 version.
so i updated to 2.0b - yes, it was a big mistake not to delete the previous version but i thought it's an "update".
then weird things happened: i've rebuild the same dvd but it won't start with the original intro video but in the middle of the main movie! tried everything but finally i had to uninstall/reinstall the soft.

now, i've got v2.0b and a lot of new problems...
my movie is a little big so i got at the end about 5GB.
but if i try to reduce it's size with CloneDVD or DVDShrink then the intro video is not playing again (like before with the "mixed version" sw)!

so i tried to put my intro video on the menu page1 but i still got dvd-start errors with the above programs: main movie is played first instead the menus. :(

sorry, a little long, but now my questions:
- is there any incompatibility with DVDA2-made dvds and CloneDVD or DVDShrink? (they confuse the menus although they shouldn't)
- can i copy or list the markers of a video to another with the same leinght (time)?
- i think i should rerender my original mpeg-file with lower bitrate so it would fit on a disc and try to burn with DVDA2 - any suggestions?

thx in advance!
(sorry for my bad english)

I think you have the right idea. Re-render at a lower bit rate. This is what you are doing with Clone DVD and DVD shrink anyway right? So I don't see there being any difference in quality of the end product.

Figure the length of your video then use one of those bit rate calculators to get a general idea of what the bit rate should be.

The better idea for future: just use DVD Bitrate Calculator before compression setting. (for example http://www.videoproductions.com.au/dvd-lab/BitCalc110.zip)
Also you can try NeroRecode instead CloneDVD & Shrink.
