Start at the END!

Take the clip you want reversed and make the FIRST frame the LAST frame you want to see. Then apply the negative velocity and it will go backwards from that last frame. Now find the other end of the clip.

Here's a step by step:
1) Find the LAST frame and Split the clip
2) Delete the segment to the left
3) Move a few frames forward and Split again.
4) Now move the little segment you have to the proper location
5) Apply the negative velocity envelop
6) Resize the small clip as needed.

A couple of easier ways:
1) Get Excalibur 2 for Vegas 4 which has the reverse option built-in.
2) Upgrade to Vegas 5 which has a right-click reverse option.

Both of these methods work the way you were expecting.

This entire process is documented in my newsletters.

Thanks for reply.
Does sound a wee bit complicated. Have only got a trial version of V5 - don't think it's worth the upgrade (well not for reverse alone).
Where can I find Excalibur 2?

Mel.

Click on the newsletters link in the previous post. That will take you to both. NOTE: Excalibur is now on version 3 for Vegas 5 with many new features. You can still get Excalibur 2 for Vegas 4, though.
