Problem with UI Lag

I recently had to switch to Sony Vegas 23 because of one of the latest NVIDIA updates. I ran into an issue where if I heavily use a single track (lots of audio clips cut into pieces or lots of files with effects on them), that track starts to freeze/lag.

From what I understand, Vegas is processing the whole track, and the more files or effects there are, the longer the lag lasts.

I was using Sony Vegas 20 before, and this problem wasn’t nearly as noticeable there.

Is there any way to fix this or at least reduce the lag?

There is no "Sony" Vegas https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/sony-vegas-vs-vegas--119881/

Are you using a legitimate Vegas purchase?

I think it may more be an issue where if you have multiple of the same media overlapping with itself (transitions, fades, etc) 23 handles this more slowly than older versions. For a workaround if you make a copy of the media and have media A interact with media B it may go faster. (This is just decoding, not talking about Fx).

To confirm if it's Fx-related or not can you temporarily bypass Fx next to the preview window and see if it makes a difference for performance?

lots of files with effects on them

@sundaysi Do you mean you've used a lot of Audio Event FX?

Excessive Audio Event FX can indeed cause latency issues. It's better for you to use Track FX instead, which will significantly reduce latency problems.

Using VEGAS Pro 22 build 250 & VEGAS Pro 21 build 208.
