Problematic playback of m2ts files made with VMS13

As a new user of Movie Studio Platinum 13 (64b) I have 2 problems with output files from the encoder. The 1st problem I have described in another topic because there may be no relation at all.
I have made output files (between 40 s and 14 min) using the encoders of Sony AVC/MVC (AVCHD 1920x1080-50p, 26 Mbps but also at 10 Mbps) and Sony XAVC S HD 1080 Long-GOP 50p (55 Mbps). I have enabled and disabled GPU to try both, there is no difference. Various video FX from Sony and NewBlue are applied to the source material (1920x1080-50p MP4, 33 Mbps output from ProDAD Mercalli 3.0).
Playback of the 26 Mbps m2ts output of Sony AVC is OK on MPC as long as I do not jump in the timeline: then the audio stops and only returns when back at the start of the video. In VLC the playback starts but quickly freezes. The 10 Mbps file playback on MPC is OK but on VLC cumbersome (though possible). The 55 Mbps MP4 output of Sony XAVC S plays flawlessly, on both players, as do also the original 50p mts files from my camcorder (26 Mbps) and the MP4 deshaken stuff (33 Mbps) from Mercalli 3.0.
Before VMS 13 (64b) for a short time I have used VMS 11 (basic version, 32b), I never noticed problems with playback of AVC output files but those were MP4.
Does someone know about the problem I described?

You can NOT use software media players as any real criteria for performance, as they all have their issues. Especially Windows Media Player. Long GOP encoding, audio codec decoding, audio sync, levels of video compression, video colorspace are all issues to be dealt with in software value performance.

In truth, you have to tailor a performance to a particular player- no one issue can be settled by all palyers out there.

AVCHD / XAVC are not delivery formats. They are designed as hardware acquisition and transport streams.
The bitrates you mentioned are not anywhere close to delivery bitrates, either. Give your system and software decoders a break :?)

Some people have had better playability for preview by running their files through TSMuxer.

I suggest x264 at sane profiles and bitrates for your home theater system ;?)
YMMV

It sounds like you find today’s bitrates overdone.
My camcorder records in 1080 50p mts files with 26 Mbps, I heard an expert here mention that this standard is hardly sufficient for good quality encoding in all situations. Whatever, my PC and media player play it without a problem.
I first feed them into Mercalli 3 (standalone) to deshake the video and pre-trim bad parts. Mercalli allows exporting (mp4 or mov) with 3 bit rate settings. The low setting (~8 Mbps) is not so interesting for my HD objectives. The high setting yields export with > 100 Mbps (maybe for 4K users?) which I do not need but which my PC plays flawlessly anyway. The medium setting produces between 20 and 40 Mbps video. This is what I use and what I feed to my NLE. The latter used to be Magix Videodeluxe, its HD export files never caused me problems, but I decided to try Movie Studio Platinum 13 because I was interested in its features and to see how it is to work with 64b software.
After editing I expect from my NLE to get output with similar quality as my input, no matter if it becomes mts or mp4, and that my PC and media player can play it just as my input. With MSP13 only the AVC and XAVC S encoders enable output in 1080 50p. With AVC I used the default bitrate (26 Mbps, same as my originals). What is wrong with this? Just because with AVC my play-back is so cumbersome I tried XAVC S (with minimum settings). This plays back fine, but with 55 Mbps it produces awful file sizes.
What do you suggest as “sane” profiles and bitrates?
