Problems anyone with the 5.0d update?

I was running 5.0b with no problems since its release - last week I updated to 5.0d
I also did a number of other seemingly unrelated installs to my system
But Vegas has been real buggy since I tarted working with it again, and before I start troubleshooting the other stuff and its possible relations with Vegas, I thought I'd ask you all if you've witnessed anything wierd with this latest release
Actually it just occured to me that some of the problems I have had have been related to saving as WMV and also after using Mindows Media Player for playback,
And I just updated Media Player to 10
Any thoughts?

WMP10 has issues, but I doubt that's causing your Vegas problems. Not having any problems with 5d here, but I'm sure that your problems are real, not imagined.
Don't think that anything is unrelated....Photoshop CS for instance, can really mess up your system. So can anything that uses audio drivers, video drivers. Acrobat 6 can also mess up the system.
You might try a repair install of Vegas first, so that Vegas is the last thing installed. See if that helps. If not, you might consider doing some rollbacks until you can locate the trouble app, if it's an app at all.
Is this a new system, or one on which Vegas was previously running smoothly?

Vegas worked fine before.
Actually, updating Vegas to 5.0d was the last change I made to the system. I updated WMP to 10 right before that . I will take your advice , Spot, but now that I am thinking about all this - I am wondering if anyone has had any issues when updating from WinXP SP1 to SP2 - which I wanted to do today also

I've gone from SP1 to SP2 without problem.

I've had trouble with the new 1394 drivers in SP2 and ended up reinstalling the old drivers. I just grabbed them out of the system restore area.

If you update to SP2 and then find you can't keep more than one 1394 disk attached at a time, hunt down messages on SP2 in this forum. You should find the list of drivers to replace.

Fire wire has seemed to be wierd since I updated just the Firewire drivers a month ago
Now I wonder if that is causing a lot of these other problems
Can't seem to find any thing on this forum on re-installing the old drivers - just a link to MS with another recent update which I might try -

Also no problems with SP1 to SP2 switch on WinXP.

Rob Mack or anyone - How did you reinstall the old 1394 drivers - I tried to do that but xp pro keeps replacing them 1 sec. after i put the SP1 drivers back. The 3 files are 1394bus.sys ohci1394.sys arp1394.sys << are they the right 3 to use?

Man this problem is from hell...

thanks

If you kill the sp2 copies in both the system and the restore areas then the sp1 versions will remain. You might try to replace the sp2 drivers in the system area with the sp1 versions.

Two issues I am aware of concerning Win XP SP2 is that firewire speed was cut in half and DSL modems were greatly compromised. I have not heard of any consistent issues with sp2 outside those two.

In Verizon Country, everyone on verizon DSL lost their internet imediately upon rebooting after updating to sp2. I use cable broadband, but everyone I know using DSL could not update to sp2.
