Problems importing .mts files

hello! I am having a tough time importing files from my SONY HF-10 HD camcorder. I have already transferred the files off of th HF-10 to my computer, and deleted them off the device (HF-10).

I've also spent quite a while looking up the answer (google then here) and haven't found it- I feel like I'm asking a question that's probably been answered a hundred times, but I haven't figured it out.

I have Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9.0. I am trying to import MTS files to edit them for publishing on DVD, and am interested in the highest quality possible for my equipment.

PROBLEM- I can't import the files to Vegas, it does not understand them. I do not even really know how to ask any further questions, it just can't open the files. I have already imported AVI files and used Vegas no problem.

Im the 'stream' folder copied from the camera (AVCHD>BDMV>STREAM) lives a bunch of files I want to use, how do I do it?

Lastly, I could not export these files using PIXELA, the suppied Canon program for reading/editing movies to a different format; did I miss something?

thanks in advance for any help, I'm frustrated at spending so much time on something that seems like it should be relatively simple.

Thanks,
Strallard

Only Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0a supports AVCHD, not the plain Movie Studio version. If you just bought Movie Studio, you need to either take it back and buy the Platinum version, or upgrade online. Otherwise, you won't have HD support at all.

Bummer, will have to save up for that. I guess I need to downgrade from HiDef with the Canon software Pixela to work with the files.

Thanks!

If you paid $1000 to get such a camera, do buy the $40 upgrade to Vegas Platinum 9.
