Problems Recording From Web -- Double Post

(This was also posted in the Audio forum.)

There is a talk Web radio program I listen to on a fairly regular basis that I'd like to record. Yes, I have permission from both the radio personality and the station manager. But I'm having a problem using Vegas 4.0--probably me!

What I do is tune into the program using WinAmp. I open Vegas with an empty audio track. I then arm the track for recording. Then I click on the Record button below the event window. It begins recording just fine, then within a few second--sometimes a few, sometimes several--it starts feeding back on itself with massive segments of cliped audio.

[Addemdum] This happens when the sound peaks over 0.0. I've tried reducing the voulume on WinAmp, but it appears to have no impact.

How can I do this and get a clean recording?

Thanks for your help!

What format is the program in (RealAudio, Windows Media, MP3, etc)?

If it all possible, capture / download the data file; don't try to record the audio. The latter just lends itself to net congestion. Depending on the format, there's probably a program that will download the file itself, and then you can import it into Vegas or convert it to a format that can be imported into Vegas.

Well, all I know is it's a slightly delayed broadcast and when you go to the web site, you click on either WinAmp aor Windows Media Player to listen. The WinAmp sounds better than the Windows Media Player.

[Addendum] Okay, I checked. The WinAmp is in the MP3 format (ShoutCast?).

Probably you've got Vegas recording from the line out of the sound card AND you're monitoring the recording also on the line outs. Classic feedback situation.

Maybe this program can help.

Rob, I think that'll do it. Thank you!
