Earlier I could not render to RealMedia 8. So I contacted SoFo support who asked me to uninstall Vegas, delete the shared plug-ins folder and reinstall directly from the 4.0b. So I thought what the heck and uninstalled EVERYTHING that had something to do with Sonic Foundry and deleted all SoFo folders. I even used a neat registry tool called jv16 (use at own risk if you download) to delete all traces of SoFo activity in the registry. Then I defragmented my C: drive, restarted and installed directly from Vegas 4.0b and DVDA 1.0b.
Not only can I now render to RM8 and all other formats with zero problems. I also got rid of stuttering and occasional lock up when using autopreview in the media pool. Occasional lock up when playing timeline avi's with audio. Stuttering preview even at the preview quality auto setting. In addition it feels like there has been an overall performance boost.
Having said this, I know I have not put Vegas "to the test" since I did this only yesterday but it sure looks promising. I'll let you know if something bad shows up along the way.
