Problems with some fonts in ProType

I'm finding that some of my favorite fonts don't work correctly in ProType.

For instance, Monotype Corsiva.

When I use that font in ProType, the second half of letters is often cut off. I've tried custom kerning, tracking, etc., but nothing seems to fix it. If I rotate the letter, I can see the full letter is in there, it's just hidden.

Is there a workaround for this???

I went to the old Vegas titler instead for this project and it had no problem using these "problem" fonts.

Thanks for any info.

monotype corsivia working fine here in ProTitler

Hmmh... OK, I just tried it again, starting a new text box from scratch with that font and the others that had shown the problem and they were fine.

Turns out the problem only occurs when I replace the text in some of the canned effects under "collections". I like the Fly In effect, and tend to drop those in and change the text.

That's where the problem occurs, like maybe it's remembering how wide the original letters were or something.

Any ideas on that?

Thanks.

just tried "fly in" and simply replaced text type to monotype corsiva - still works as expected here. Trying all my fonts - albeit as a quick scan - they all showed up correctly, including non-standard ones I use.

I have multiple fonts that throw up errors in ProType. I sent them to another guy that visits the forum and he could reproduce the problem as well. Not exactly sure what the problem or why it produces an error message.

OK, well, it looks like it's only doing it on presets that I had customized myself.

I tend to use three line pages, so I created a three line Fly In set and saved it as a preset, and then changing fonts does give me the problem.

But I just created one from scratch and it didn't have the problem.

So maybe my presets corrupted somehow.

Ah well, I'll delete my presets and recreate them and see if it happens again, hopefully it won't.

Thanks for your replies.
