i have a menu that plays a short video in the background. what i'd like to do is change the menu by placing a tga file on top of the video (to place title, buttons, etc) so that the video shows through the transparent rectangle within the tga file. the problem is the video was rendered as NTSC DV so most of the video gets cropped by the graphic portions of the tga at the top and bottom. i figured maybe rendering the video only as NTSC DV widescreen would 'stretch' the video so that it would fit a little better within the transparent rectangle. i go back to the project where i created the background and changed the properties to NTSC DV widescreen. the weird thing is, now the preview window shows the current clip as being more square than it was before instead of more rectangular which i expected. i don't get it.. before the change to widescreen, the aspect ratio was at 4:3 which is more square than 16:9 which is more rectangular. is this correct or am i totally not understanding this whole aspect ratio thing??
my goal is to render the final project at 4:3 with the widescreen video in the background. how do i do this?
