Process Image Sequences with Adobe Camera Raw

I've been experimenting with timelapse photography, and I just realized many of the tools I've been using can also be used to add another option for vegas editing.

Specifically, using only the basic Photoshop (not extended), Bridge, and a cool donationware tool called LRTimelapse, you can access all the power of Adobe Camera Raw for your video footage, and even add keyframe changes for ACR parameters!

No more Vegas Color Curves! No more White Balance Tool! No more stacking levels filters! No more studio-computer-back-to-studio conversions! Free beer for all!

Okay, actually this is kind of an intensive workflow, so you'll need to be judicious in judging whether or not the extra work is actually worth it...

The basic workflow:

* Put a video clip on the Vegas timeline and export a JPEG image sequence
* Open the sequence's containing folder in Adobe Bridge
* Right-click an image and choose "Open in Camera RAW"
* Edit to your heart's delight; when you're done, click "Done"
* Go Back to Bridge, select all images, Right-Click, and choose "Develop Settings -> Previous Conversion"
* Adobe Bridge applies your ACR settings to every image in the folder

Now all you have to do is use Photoshop's Image Processor to batch process the jpegs using the new embedded metadata (ie save as PSD files in a new folder). Import the revised image sequence into Vegas, and you're done.

As I say, you'll need to contemplate whether or not it's worth it to do this, but the bottom line is yes, you can use all your beloved ACR tools, including lens corrections, recovery, exposure, etc, to process video footage within Vegas. Sweet.
