process of making final video look like film

I'm trying to understand the process of taking my video, which I shot at 30fps(i), and rendering it so it gives the appearance of being shot on film (24fps). I understand how to use the color curves (gamma) adjustment. But I'm having a little difficulty understanding the deinterlacing and interpolating steps.

One easy thng you can do whether with a matte box or screw on filter is try the Tiffen Soft FX 1. Works well with BetaSX or DVCAM by softening the image without the blooming you get with the Black Pro Mists or the regualr Pro Mist line. I shot a documentary with it on the front of the DSR 500 and am very pleased with the results.

I've ordered some of the new Hollywood series, gold and balck diffusion(?) in 1/4. 1/2 and 1 for my Matte Box, looking forward to trying them with BetaSX because the image of a DXC d35/DNV5 is just too sharp and "video like" for my liking. Unlike the rest of you many lucky stiffs I cannot do all the softening etc. in post becasue there is no time available. Best I can hope for is colour correction and solid sound. All the nice effects take way too long to render wso I have to do pretty well everything with the lens.
