Process Priority

In task manager, under the processes tab, if you right click vegas 8, there is a priority option. Does anyone know if there is an advantage to setting to to "high" or "realtime"? It makes intuitive sense that it would help channel resourses to the program.

Also, I know it's been mentioned, but the free program "End It All 2" works great to quickly end background programs before starting to edit. It's easy to find on google. I can confirm that it works with 64 bit Vista.

Actually i set it to 'Normal' while editing/previewing and then set it to 'Below Normal' while rendering. Normally Vegas is the busiest application on my computer most of the time so the system will allocate it as many free cycles as it can. A higher priority will gain very little, except make other programs slow to a crawl and that can be quite a pain. However, sometimes i want other programs to interact snappily while the render is going on and i don't care if it adds a few seconds to the rendering time.

I always leave VidCap at 'Above normal'.

Thanks! That's why I ask. What is Vidcap and what does it do? I can't find it in my system processes with Vegas 8.1 running. That is with 8.1 and Vista 64 bit. I'm not having any problems, actually I'm a stark newbie, but I'm just trying to optimize my system for ACVHD.

VidCap60.exe is the external SD capturing program that is included with Vegas. HD capturing is built into Vegas rather than being a separate program.
