Product code registered with another e-mail address

Someone told my I'd posted in the wrong place, so I've followed their link and posted again. I apologise if this is now in exactly the same place again, but that's where the link took me.

Sony Vegas Movie Studio 17

When installing the product it asked for an e-mail address. I added my hotmail e-mail address. It then demanded afterwards that I register the product and create a password, so I used the same e-mail address only for it to tell me that this e-mail address was already being used. I tried to recover the password (that I never created in the first place) and I received no e-mail so I had no choice but to use a different e-mail address (my gmail one) to then create a password and register the product. Now the program won't work because it says the product code is registered with a 'different e-mail address'.

I am unclear if the issue was caused by this or whether the disk I got from amazon has a copied product code and that I've been scammed.

I definitely used a product code, not a voucher to redeem.

First thing I would suggest is to login to your MAGIX My Account using the 'I already have a MAGIX login' selection and using your original email address (the Hotmail address) and its associated password that you created at the time. If that works, check the My Products listing on your MAGIX My Account to see if VMS17 is registered there. If it is, you should be able to use VMS17 without any further registration issues. But if it is not there and you are unable to activate VMS17 via either email account, you may have been scammed as there has been a history of people reporting problems with Vegas purchases made on Amazon where already used serial numbers have been provided.

Further, if the seller you purchased from via Amazon named the product Sony Vegas Media Studio 17, that in itself is a good indicator of a scam. Please see https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/sony-vegas-vs-vegas--119881/

@Nicholas-Cresswell My understanding is that with Amazon purchases you get a voucher code which you redeem on the Magix site and Magix then provide you with a serial number which is registered to your provided email address. You can then activate your product. But I'm always open to correction if I'm wrong.

The fact that you have a product code/serial number suggests it has already been registered to another email address which is what you are experiencing. That's why I asked you on the Magix forum to tell us when posting here whether you had a voucher code or serial number.

If Dexcon's suggestion doesn't work you could try going back to Amazon. If it's a scam ask for a refund, but if it's genuine and you are getting error code 24 then this may help https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/support/article/how-to-solve-error-code-24--2/
