Professional edition

I've recently bought Vegas Movie Studio DVD/Plat and am a great fan already. I was puzzled when trying to follow a couple of tutorials from the web, certain options were missing off my screen. It turns out things like Pan/Crop mask options and Velocity Events are not availble in the consumer edition. Any ideas how to upgrade to pro edition. How much?

If the upgrade to Vegas 7+DVD is too steep for you, and you aren't doing High Def (HDV) editing, you might consider the "Vegas6 for $99" that B&H still has:

For $99 you get version 6 of the pro Vegas package. Note that this $99 deal does NOT include DVD Architect, but you already have DVD Architect Studio with your VMS Platinum package.

Vegas 7 added much improved support for HDV editing (not that I would know), and support for XDCam (high-end cameras), etc. Check the read-me files in the Vegas 7 downloads for more details. But Vegas 6 does have velocity envelopes, bezier masks in pan/crop, unlimited audio and video tracks, etc.

And, if you decide after buying Vegas 6 that you really do need Vegas 7, the upgrade path is slightly cheaper. You can upgrade from Vegas 6 to Vegas 7 + DVD for $250, for a total cost of $99+$250 = $349 (packaged version). Upgrading to Vegas 7 from VMS Plat costs $441 (packaged version).
