program keeps shutting itself down

I'm using Vegas 9.0 and the program keeps going to 'not responding' or just shuts itself down. Will un-installing and re-installing help? I bought this software in 2009. Is it just too old and I need to update? Thanks

It shouldn't be too old or obsolete -- but version 12 is 64-bit and runs very stably on a well-supported 64-bit OS with lots of RAM.

It would definitely be worth downloading the free trial and giving it a test drive.

hold ctrl+shift while starting up Vegas. This will set Vegas back to factory settings and you'll avoid any corrupt settings. Mind: you will lose all your presets.
