program not responding with video preview

amturner wrote on 12/4/2016, 11:56 PM

Hi folks, my first post.

I'm using Vegas Pro 14 (build 201) 64-bit. Whenever I load a video into the timeline (without the video preview window open or docked), the video loads fine and I can hear and playback the file, hearing the audio. Can make trim edits, etc.

As soon as I enable the video preview window, there is about a second before the program progresses to being unresponsive.

Using Windows 10 Pro 64bit. Dell Precision M3800. Quad-core. Graphics cards: Intel HD 4600 and Nvidia Quadro K1100M. Latest drivers and updates for everything, as far as I know.

Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Do you have an external video monitor and do you have Display frames in video preview window during playback checked or unchecked? When unchecked my external monitor has always, in all Vegas versions since 6, behaved the way you describe so I have to keep both previews running at the same time, but this has never bothered me.

Have you tried update your NET Framework to 4.6.2 ?

Some users have video preview issue and updating NET Framework to this version fix that problem. Probably similar solution?

Thanks Paul and Set.

Paul, I do have an external monitor. But whether it is connected or not, the problem is the same.  Display frames in video preview during playback is checked.  I have the video preview window closed most of the time, unfortunately, as when it is open with files on the timeline, Vegas becomes unresponsive.

I'm noticing now that it tends to happen more routinely when mts files are dropped into the timeline...

Set, thanks I am using the latest version of the Net Framework.  I also have the 3.5 Framework enabled as I was running Movie Studio 13 Platinum prior to this.

I've also disabled GPU acceleration of video processing.

Any other suggestions?  Hard to edit videos without seeing the footage! ; )

Thanks.
