Hi all,
I have been using Particle Illusion 3.0 for the past 4-5 months with varied success. Trying to use with DV from a TRV950. I have tried various codec from Panasonic etc. and they all seem to create problems on my system. Any suggestions??

Wondering if there are any other programs that anyone uses which are similar to Particle Illusion that are a bit more friendly with DV??

thank so much, kk5551

How isn't particle illusion friendly? I've used it with DV no problem.

Make sure that the image is eigther 654 (55?)x480 to fit the DV res. Or, after you import your still's into vegas at 720x480 you have to manually change the aspect ratio.

It works fine then.

and this may be a silly question... you paid good money for the full version of the program & are willing to ditch it just like that?

Also, if you are having DV import issues coming from Vegas, ensure on your DV render template:

Custom/Video/Create an open DML (AVI Version 2.0) compatible file = FALSE (not checked).

That should help. That may be the source of your problems, if any.

PI 3 is a terrific program.

Hello
Should one uncheck ” Custom/Video/Create an open DML (AVI Version 2.0) compatible file” as a general rule, or is this related to this particular problem?

no - normally you would want it checked

To answer your original question....There is a programs called EffectsLab DV that is very similar to PI. Also there are some very good particle plugins for After Effects.

The Vegas upgrade of Boris FX also contains particle effects.

Combustion. Hands down one of the best in my humble opinion.
