Program won't even start. Just crashes.

GoodEnough wrote on 2/18/2017, 10:10 PM

I just paid $25 for this download, and the program won't even run.

Crashes during the splash screen loading.

"Initializing GPU accelerated video processing"

Opens a window titled "Problem report"
Movie Studio has stopped working

Needless to say, I am hugely disappointed.
Does this program work on Win7 64-bit?

What download are you talking about?

EricLNZ wrote on 2/19/2017, 3:39 AM

MS13 presumably. According to the Specs yes it should run on Win 7 64 bit.

I have no idea what this means at all, but I hope you guys can make some sense out of it.

The only sense for me is that you use a very early build of the program, build 208.
The latest build was 987.

Try that one because there were many bugs in the early ones.

Where would I download the latest build? I was linked build 208 after I purchased it online.

Download is becoming difficult I think, because there is a new version.
Try at the bottom of this page the Additional Offers and don't go to the "Black Market" for a cheap download.
That's always disappointing.

Found this: http://download.sonymediasoftware.com/current/

This is a list of mirror downloads for almost all their software. And hey, build 955 is on there.

I had to uninstall AMD Catalyst SDK.

Apparently, this is a known issue.

I am running v13 (Build 208)

Thanks for posting the solution. Previous cases with instructions for uninstallation here: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/movie-studio-platinum-12-crashes-on-startup-gpu--92175/

(I have just added this to this FAQ post which can help with Movie Studio as well as Vegas Pro)

Botclone wrote on 2/25/2017, 1:31 PM

I don't have AMD Catalyst SDK and it still never makes it past "Initializing GPU-accelerated video processing.

Also, the link I posted did not have the latest build of Movie Studio 13, those were installers for Movie Studio 13 Platinum.

C:\Windows\system32\igdrcl64.dll is apparently the Intel OpenCL graphics accelerator. Take a look at this page: https://github.com/shimat/opencvsharp/issues/243

Try rolling back the driver as described in the solution there, or update your Intel graphics driver from one of these places, in order of preference:

  1. Your hardware manufacturer, if their website supplies it
  2. Windows Update
  3. From Intel themselves, via here or here
Botclone wrote on 2/25/2017, 10:31 PM

I don't have an intel card.

I don't have an intel card.

What are your system specs? CPU? GPU? Motherboard? Windows version?

Botclone wrote on 2/25/2017, 11:20 PM

GPU is a GTX1050TI, the CPU is an i5-6400, the motherboard is an ASRock B250M PRO4. Running Windows 7 Professional.

NickHope wrote on 2/25/2017, 11:42 PM

Try updating or rolling back your Nvidia graphics driver, especially if you have version 378 or later. If that doesn't help then I suggest working thoroughly through the post I linked to earlier: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-vegas-pro-won-t-start-what-can-i-do--104784/

Botclone wrote on 3/4/2017, 12:03 AM

Alright, I managed to fix it.

I deleted the files listed in this link ( https://github.com/shimat/opencvsharp/issues/243 ).The files were:

C:\Windows\System32\igdbcl64.dll (not on my PC)
C:\Windows\System32\igdfcl64.dll
C:\Windows\System32\igdrcl64.dll
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\igdbcl32.dll
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\igdfcl32.dll
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\igdrcl32.dll

And I restarted my PC and Sony Vegas actually started up.

Thanks Nick for linking that link, now I guess you can lock this thread or something
