program wont install by disk, trial version expired

I have purchased Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Pro Pack on disk. When I install from disk and double click on desktop icon to open program, I get a pop up window stating that my trial version of theprogram has expired and it only gives me the option to "buy" (which takes me to the website to place in shopping cart to purchase again) or to "close" (closes box with no other options, closes program and takes me back to desktop). How do I remove whatever is causing the trial version expiration trigger so that I can use the program I have purchased on disk?

You shouldn't need to install what's on the DVD. The trial version is actually the full, complete software install and is likely to be a newer release than what's on the disc. When you launch Vegas there should be an option somewhere to "order over the phone" or something like that. Go there and it will show you a box to enter your serial number. This should be either on the first page of the quickstart guide or on a postcard in the package that the DVD came in.

If you have installed the DVD i'd suggest you go to the software updates page on this site and download the latest release. Install that over top of what you already have.

I looked for an update, but there isn't one for my edition. There is only an update for the "regular" version, and "platinum" version. But nothing new for "platinum pro" version.

That seems odd considering it's up to release 9.0b, but you are correct. Here's the link to download the 9.0b release from the "trials and demos" area:

http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/trials/moviestudiopp

But if that's where you got it from originally then you probably already have 9.0b. Most likely what's on the disc is 9.0a.

Arimat,

The Movie Studio Platinum Edition would be the appropriate update for you. Your editing program is exactly the same as the Platinum edition.

The "Pro" part of VMS Platinum Pro just means you also got some extra stuff with your purchase, like Sound Forge Audio Studio, Sound FX, and some New Blue transitions. But your Vegas Movie Studio and DVD Arch Studio programs are exactly the same as the Platinum package.
