Progressive scan

Allthough I set the field order to "none, progressive scan" and the deinterlace method to "blend fields" in Vegas movie studio, the properties in DVDA says: progressive: "no". Whys is that? I thought I was choosing these settings to get a progressive scanned picture = better image.

I have clearly missed something here, anyone that can recommend settings that can be used to transfer PAL tapes to DVD in DVDA and or Vegas Movie Studio?

Where?
In Project Properties?
In Render Properties?
Is your source media interlaced or progressive?
Are you changing the resolution in render?

No. Interlaced should remain interlaced, Progressive should remain Progressive, in most cases.

In project properties. My source media is a PAL Betamax VCR from 1984. I assumed that since it is a PAL-video it would output interlaced video, but I am as you hear not an expert. Any recomendations on what settings I should choose in project properties and render properties and where do I find render properties?

Your source media is not your Betamax tape. It is the file that shows up on your computer after you have captured it with a device.

However, let's assume it is interlaced.

Search the knowledgebase for "Match Media Properties" and follow the procedure in Project Properties. Be sure to have a Deinterlace Method selected in case resizing will take place.

Your Render Properties are found under File->Render As.
If you are rendering for DVD Architect, choose the appropriate templates and do not change the scan type.
