I'm using 20 but it's been the same for as long as I can remember. I have this one wedding with a 4 hour ceremony, 4 camera tracks, heavy footage (HEVC 4:2:2) mixed cameras, canon, panasonic. And when I tab out or switch to any different window the project literally crunches the hard drive for 3 MINUTES before letting me click anything again. Then it's perfectly fine until I click away and come back. I'll be editing this on an ssd so it will be MUCH better but sometimes I just need to open a project from the actual mechanical HD to look at the project. 95% of my projects don't do this. It just seems like there's a threshold at a certain point where Vegas struggles more with this. (very large projects). My question is this:
Is there a way to alleviate this? My system memory of 64GB is not even half full. Would increasing the dynamic ram preview do anything? I'm assuming no. It's not a HUGE issue, it just get's tiresome if I waste 30 minutes of my day from just checking an email then tabbing back to Vegas as it reloads for 3 minutes. My guess is that this is just the way it is with a project that size.
