Im using DVD4.0 and am trying to burn a 5.8GB onto a 8.5GB DVD.
I am using a HP DVD WRITER 400cKH27 with the latest drivers.

The message I receive when trying to burn the DVD is
"It has been determined that your project is too large for the selected media. Please insert larger media or reduce project size."

Any suggestions?

Are your DVD Architect Project Properties set to dual-layer DVD?

I don't know about version 4, but in version 5 the Properties are located under the File menu.

Also, can you confirm that your DVD burn is CAPABLE of burning a dual-layer DVD. Not all burners can.

Can you prepare to a folder without trying to burn?

What is the format of your 5.8GB source material?

I never use DVDAS to burn my final project. Apart from there being a few problems reported doing this, DVDAS will not verify the burn. I always prepare to a folder then use generic burning software for the burn. Doing it this way, if the project is too big for a normal DVD, DVDAS will tell you that it's too big but will still allow you to prepare. You can then use something like DVDShrink to shrink it down to normal size.
