V13, build 373
I have spent hours and hours on this, and have finally concluded that when I have a project with Media Bins declared, the project will not load...the load hangs at some point north of 75% - which seems to be after the assets have loaded.
History:
This project contains 85 video files of various types. It contains about 30 Media bins (mirroring the directory structure in which the files reside.)
Previously, I had thought there was a problem with one of files that caused loading to just stop at 75%, 82%, 95%, or some other value. After doing the trick where I renamed the home directory, and let Vegas go one-by-one through the "File not found" process, I found there were no problems in loading any one file.
Finally - this is after, say, 10 hrs of frustration - I decided to create a "flat" project from scratch, where I simply import the video files, but create no media bins. Damned if the project doesn't load without problems.
Then, I took that same project, and added my 31 bins. (I did NOT move any media into those bins.) The project will not load. Hangs reliably at 79%.
I have turned off the option to build audio peak files at load time, and also closed-captioning during load. No effect.
Last test: Create a veg that has ONLY the bin structure defined, with no media clips imported whatsoever. This project hangs indefinitely at load time as well...but there is NO %-loaded indicator shown.
However - I loaded a veg from another project (in another folder, but same hard drive) that has > 300 assets and about 15 media bins defined. This project loads in seconds without problem. Whaaaat? Is there a limit to the number of media bins one can have, maybe?
Bottom line is that it will be impossible for me to work with Vegas if it will not load a project containing bins. I routinely have projects with several hundred clips and many bins reflecting directory structure on the disc.
What on earth could be the problem?
