promo production / CEP or Vegas?

I'm a vegas video user (v4) and have used Cool Edit Pro (2.1) for audio only projects. Anyone used both pieces of software for a while and have good feel for which you like better for radio/television *audio* only production?

A friend just took a new gig and has the ability to get whatever he wants. He dislikes pro tools and that's what's sitting at his station, so he's considering Vegas or CEP and I don't have enough experience with Vegas for a serious audio session as CEP.

thanks!
Sean

Vegas - no question. I've used both.

You will probably get an overwhelming answer of Vegas in this forum. So you'll hear the same answer from me. If you've done video work with Vegas, than you're familiar with the UI. Audio events are the same as Video events when it comes to editing, so hands down Vegas has the best user interface. CEP has some nice things too. Like it has a Stereo editor built within it. This is needed a lot of the time for audio work. The nice thing about Vegas is that you can choose an outside stereo editor, and right click on an event, and it will open in that stereo editor of your choice. You could actually use CEP as your stereo editor from within Vegas. Most people in these forums use Sound Forge as their stereo editor.

Rednroll, excellent advice. I knew there was something missing when I tried to do a quick promo with Vegas...a two track stereo editor! That does come in handy to prepare the audio for multi-track editing...so let me look into linking them and see how fast I can move audio back and forth.

thanks for your insight!
