ProType Titler won't create keyframes (TRIAL)

I don't know if it is the trial or if I am missing something very simple. I have read through the help file, I have searched for TRIAL limitations, and I can't get the ProType Titler to set keyframes so I can test the animation that everyone is talking about.

I have tried right clicking, dragging preset effects to the timeline. The Trial I have is Version 8.0 (Build 144).

Does anyone have any ideas? Why do I seem to be the only one that can't do this?

Are you sure? Have you enabled automation in the various automatable parameters? I'm confident the trial version does not limit the titler in any way. The documentation is pretty weak.

Just checked the V8 manual and , indeed, there's no documentation. How come? Is this titler a 2nd, separate app. that's packaged with V8 ?
Didn't try it yet but asking...
Is there a basic documentation, at least, in the interactive tutorials included with the version?
Sounds weird to me... like buying an Ikea 300 pieces item without the assembly plans and allen key...

It would be great if some folks could start doing video tutorials on Creative Cow for this, like the after effects/ 3dsmax folks do over there...

There is a short tutorial on the VASSTTraining channel/YouTube. We'll have some others up shortly. Priority right now is getting the Vegas 8 book out.

I don't know what you mean by enabling automation, I don't see anything like that in the proType Titler window. I just followed the instructions in the Help File and it says to drag any preset down onto the automation Timeline, but all I get is the "Circle with the slash through it" icon, showing that I can't drag onto it.

I did watch the tutorial on YouTube, but unfortunately it didn't show keyframes at all. I can do everything that it showed. I can make nice titles. I just can't animate them.

Maybe I will install the trial on another computer and see what happens.

I spoke too soon! I did finally find that you have to click the little "Toggle Automation" swirl icon to the left of each thing you want to animate. Then you can drag the preset down onto those tracks that appear. I did not realize how it was really supposed to work, but now I get it.

The examples just seemed so simple in the help file that I could not understand what part I was missing.

Going back and reading the help file I realize it was my fault. I assumed that they were showing the hard way and saying that you had to move the sliders for the Offset Y or whatever. Instead I tried to just drag the thing around and it did not create a keyframe. Then I tried the sliders and still nothing, so I jumped too fast to conclusions and didn't really notice the Toggle Automation icon note in the help file steps. I apologize and I don't have any solutions for making that easier for people to understand.

Yes, toggling automation is definitely different than working with existing Vegas tools, and you're not the first one confused.

Completely OT
I was showing my son the the pro title, the other night. It took him 5 minutes to get it to work and produce a decent title. But he did spend 50% of that time looking for the automation-toggle. I do not feel too bad as he does have a BAFTA award for web design.
His only comment: " Looks very powerful. Great possibilities "

I am encouraged:)
