I have been using PS3 as my media player before USB port appear on TV display, and I just read http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2015/06/16/media-player-launches-on-ps4-today/ and http://www.engadget.com/2015/06/15/ps4-media-player/, media player is coming back to PS4.
