PSD Layers OUT and IN still brkn in B453?

Grazie wrote on 7/20/2015, 3:05 AM
Yup,

1] Make a 4 layer PSD

2] Import into VP 453 and I get 4 Tracks - Good.

3] Select 4th Track "Open In Graphics Editor, VP makes a "Flattened-Layer" transfer TAKE. Bad.

4] Open in Graphic Editor I get 4 Layers. Good

5] Make changes to that 4th Layer. Good

6] Save and return to VP 453 and that Flattened Layer TAKE is still there no Update to my adjustment from the Graphics Editor.

Somebody confirm or deny this.

TIA

Grazie,

I can confirm the problem. However, here's the solution. When the file is re-imported back into Vegas as a Take, it selects the first stream which is the flattened image. Simply select the stream 2 for the 4th layer and all is well. Give it a try.

Thanks waggie! I'm not at my edit desk but will most definitely give it go. Would any of this lend itself to a Script? Of course, SCS should be all over this.

Of course, SCS should be all over this.

I'm not so sure this is an SCS problem. It may lie in the script "Open in Graphics Editor": Within the script, a copy of the original file is made and added as a New Take. It would seem that the stream assignment should be made at that time (simply copy the stream assignment from the original file) and not afterward once the changes have been made. It's seems easy enough to assign the correct stream afterward--that is, unless you have a lot to do, so I'm not sure a new script would be of great value. In any case, try it just to make sure that it's working for you.

It may lie in the script "Open in Graphics Editor":

'Cept it HAS worked in previous versions of VP.

Yup, that works, thanks wwaag. Thing is, I've never had to do that before now.

Interesting. I tried it in V10 and V12 and it works the same as V13 for me. One thing though, it seems best to always select the bottom layer. Otherwise, the bottom layer will be inserted as a take into whatever layer is selected which means you have to re-order the layers in Vegas--definitely a pain.
