PTT and dropped frames

When we capture DV to our PCs, we can easily monitor if and how many frames are dropped.

Is there any way to monitor frame dropping when printing to a DV camera or other other devices? Is only the recieving device capable of tracking dropped frames?

Just curious. I'm not having any PTT problems that I'm aware of, but sometimes I get nervous and wonder if I have to watch every second of printed video to make sure there's no problem.

I've had a couple of problems when using PTT with stuttering in the final output. I assume this is due to dropped frames, but vidcap doesn't give any clue about this. I've switched over to using ScenAlyzer Live for printing to tape (I've been using it for capture for a while now). It has a bar graph that shows you the buffer usage, as well as a "dropped frames" counter. I don't know if it will actually indicate dropped frames, as I haven't had any since using it, but the counter is there, and the buffer usage indicator gives me a better feel for how "close" to a buffer underrun I'm getting.
