PTT & PD150: Need help!

Haven't been able to find anything in the Forums Archives, so have to ask:

Here's the set up. A computer we use primarily for editing and creating DVDs; a PD-150 to use for pass through to a VHS record deck.

When I firewire from the computer to the PD-150 using PTT I have both picture and sound on the camera monitor. Same is true if I select "external monitor." When I plug an SVHS cable (or an RCA video cable) into the camera the picture disappears from the camera monitor. Take the SVHS cable out and the picture returns to the camera. I've used two different PD-150s with same results.

The "DV in/out" menu option in the 150 is "ON."

I rendered the time line to an avi file and tried using the vid/capture utility to output. Same strory -- no image on the camera when video out cable is plugged in.

Since the camera works o.k. for pass through on another computer, I'm suspecting that there is something I've failed to set correctly on the computer I'm trying to get to print to tape. Anything is possible, though.

As a work around I've output to a DVD to meet deadline, but I really do need to resolve this issue for the future. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Jack,
I use my VX2000's in this way all the time and I suspect that they are identical in this function to your PD 150.

DV IN is showing on the camera's LCD screen and it works fine. Displays on the LCD screen while an s-video or composite video plug is inserted.

Ar eyou saying that the signal is not passed to the VCR, or just that there is no display on the LCD?

Ralph, both of the above -- camera monitor screen turns to blue, and no pass through to VHS deck as soon as SVHS cable is inserted into camera.

Never seen this happen before.

Anyone else have ideas?
