Every 10 seconds or so...mostly when the subject moves, jewelry twinkles...anytime the scene slightly changes.

Grazie,
It's about 15 minutes. The changes are not at regular intervals. The camera used must have been very sensitive to changes, such that a slight tilt of the head, creating a change in the light reflection.

Unfortunately, the background is almost black, do changes in the levels become very noticeable. I'm going to try to simply build a feathered mask around the subject and insert a still of the background.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated!

Even if you replace the background by masking the subject they are still going to be showing the pumping as you describe it. BUT

Before you get into a 15 minute mask try chroma key first. You can key out any color. Place chroma key in the effects chain, turn it off and then use the eye dropper to select the background. Then turn the effect on and adjust to get a sharp mask.

It might work depending on how much your subject's color is near the background color, but as the background changes the chroma mask would have to be keyframed to adapt.

A couple of snapshots of before pumping and during would be helpfull.
