Putting laptop to sleep to pause render?

Hey guys,

Sort of an interesting question here. Does anyone have any experience with putting your machine to sleep in the middle of a render?

I ask because I need to leave the office and wish to continue the render where it's left off when I arrive home. Will this cause any problems, or should everything simply resume normally when the system awakens?

Nevermind -- confirmed it myself. It works just fine!

Yep, i do that now and then. Always works fine.

Actually, i have a terribly long commute and sometimes i want the render to continue. I'll put the laptop to sleep while i walk out to the car, then plug it in to an inverter plugged in to the cigarette lighter, then start it up and let it keep going while i drive. This can give me an extra 4.5 hours' rendering time each day.

Then again, that's only if i'm desperate to get the rendering done on the laptop. If i'm thinking and planning more clearly i'll VNC into one of the home desktops, transfer the project there, and start the render up remotely. Of course, that's only practical if i already have copies of the source media there, but i often do.
