Q about Celluloid

I just d/l the trial version of Celluloid and WOW....anyway, I have a question (workflow). Went to the VASST site but the FAQ and User Guide links did not work under the Celluloid section. I've not worked with 24P before....

What is the best workflow for this application when you have multiple clips? All of the rough cuts at once, one at a time?? Once ready for final render I assume all steps are equal (except choosing 24P in the DVDA MPEG2 preset)?

Really diggin this plugin....

PS. Did have one meltdown while using it that resulted in the error below at the very end of the render to 24P....put it in just in case anyone is able to read the tea leaves and tell me what happened.

Wow, Read violations are a strange error to get. Was your PC running hot?

Anyway, the workflow for Celluloid depends of if you are going for the 24p cadence or not. If you are, then you should assemble just a rough cut of all your video on the timeline. Nothing but cuts (no dissolves or other transitions, no titles or anything else, just a rough edit or raw footage)

Then run the conversion to 24p. At the end of the conversion, Celluloid will change the properties of your project to 24p. Now when you add any transitions, generated media, titles, etc., they will all be generated at 24p and maintain the cadence.

The film look is added AFTER the render so that you can tweak it however you want. Likewise the widescreen (16:9) crop is added after the render so you can adjust the crop to not cut anyone’s head off (or other important information).

Think of Celluloid as a way to get you project into 24p mode before you begin. If you are not rendering to 24p, then you can apply the film looks whenever you want during you project. It will apply them to the selected tracks, events, or master video bus. The convert 4:3 to Widescreen is mean to be run at anytime also. It adds the 16:9 crop to all video events.

Thanks for the reply....computer is not running hot best I can tell.

One more Q.....after Celluloid renders to 24P, can the clip on the lower timline (non 24P clip) be deleted? It appears to be the original version prior to conversion/look being applied.

Yes you can safely delete the lower clips (which Celluloid mutes) as the 24p versions are separate AVI files.
