the quality of my video is terrible. i made a movie with video clips from my video camera and burned it to a dvd. but when i watched it on my tv it had lots on little squares and the faces were unrecognizable. how do i make the quality better?
You're going to need to tell us a little more. Presumably since you are in the Vegas forum, you used Vegas to do the editing and rendering and maybe DVD Architect to author the DVD?
What kind of camera did you use? Did you capture the video from the camera to your hardrive using firewire or some other capture method.
How did the video look in Vegas before you rendered/authored? If it didn't look any good in Vegas, it's not going to look any better after going to DVD.
When you rendered the video to MPEG-2, what render settings did you use (mainly, did you use the DVD Architect template)?
Quality starts right at the camera. If you shoot with junk, expect junk for results. However, assuming a decent camera we're going to need answers to some of the questions above in order to help figure out what went wrong in your particular case.
That could be you're rendering at lower quality levels. Scott is absolutely correct. It could be one of about 5 or 6 things wrong. More info is needed.
Whatever you do, do NOT use the "Defatult" template when you render to MPEG-2 in Vegas. It stupidly has the quality settings set quite low. Instead, use one of the DVD Architect templates, and set the average bitrate to 6,000,000 or above.
Just a guess... You didn't happen to capture the footage from your camcorder via USB did you? That is very low resolution. You need to use the Firewire connection to capture full-resolution, high quality video.
