Quality on DATs don't match quality of CD's that I burn with CD Architect

I have some questions and I would appreciate it if somebody could help me out.
1.) What is the recommended sound card for audio input?
2.) Generally my music is mixed to DAT and sent co-axial to the computer with good sound
levels and quality. Why do my CD's not sound exactly the same way my DAT tapes do as far as
bolume and clarity?
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Are you recording from DAT to computer using digital I/O ?
If not there is your problem.
If yes problem may be in your digital cables.
S/P DIF Coax should be 75 ohm shielded cable.
Better way is use AES/EBU (110 ohm cable)

I recommend you to buy professional digital cables.

I use AES/EBU on AdB MultiWav PRO 18 card for digital transfer and I have not problems.
