Question about Camcorder Batteries???

I'm thinking about purchasing a Sony DCR VX2000, but I have a question about batteries. There are alot of substitutes (batteries that will fit the VX2000, but are not manufactured by Sony) for the Sony NP-F series batteries that fit the...if I were to buy a non-sony battery that is compatible with the camera, would I have any problems??? I'm not sure but I thought I heard somewhere someone saying something about different battery manufacturers and compatibility issues? Can anyone give me their thoughts?

Thanks!

I have bought several larger batteries from B&H for my A1's and I have bought 6 for my Panasonic on ebay. I have had no problems. Although, with the Sony's that I have, they have some extra electronics built into the battery and after reading about compatibility issues, I bought my generics from B&H and they work great.

So, what I am saying is, if you buy generic, make sure you buy it from a reputable manufacturer that will take it back if it doesn't work.

I have several large generic Ebay purchased batteries for the VX-2000 and have had no issues with them. Also purchased a few for other cameras, and have only had one go bad in several years.

I purchased generics for my TRV-11 and they gave out rather quickly. I also have tried generics for my Dell laptop and had problems. Finally, I purchased a generic for my FX1, and so far it is operating OK, but I've only had it for six months, and haven't put a lot of time on it.

I have a Sony NP-F950
that I paid around $120 for when I bought my VX2000 and more recently a CTA Replacement Battery for Sony NP- F750 at Overstock.com for $36. It works at LEAST as good as the Sony Battery. They do not seem to stock it right now, but they do have the CTA replacement for the Sony NP-F970 in stock for $50. That would be the equivalent of my NP-F950 which holds an even longer charge than the NP-F750.
I also bought CTA replacement batteries from Overstock for the Panasonic 3-chip cameras both of my sons have and they also work flawlessly.
