I got XP, don't know where it is in WIN200, try Control Panel, Monitor, probably under the advanced settings tab. Move the slider one notch to the left and see if that helps, if not, try going further left.

Vegas is very stable and rarely will crash. When it does, (at least for me) it was always a Windows thing, not Vegas itself.

Start/Settings/Control Panel/Display/Settings/Advanced/Troubleshooting.

If I remember correctly. Its late!

It may also be in your display adaptercustom tools, depending on the display adapter in your rig... more info on your adapter?

My pal in Seattle has W2K pro, I can ask after the left-coast rises... ;^)

Yes it *is* generally hard to crash Vegas; for me anyway.

Thanks guys, got it as per wcoxe1's instructions! I see a slider which goes from 'None' to 'Full'. I assume I start moving the slider down until I experience to more crashes?

Hi!

Did you mean no more crashes, or TWO more crashes? ;^)

Adjust it all the way down to see if it fixes your problem, then bring it up one level at a time until it breaks, then go back one.

I only know about a crash in the Text plug-in having to do with video card acceleration.

There's a known "crash on startup" caused by the emagic XSKey dongle, and that will be addressed in the forthcoming 4.0b update (even though it's not our bug <g>).

I had random Vegas crashes until I relaxed my overclocking parameters (every other app ran fine, tho). Original P4 is 2.2 ghz, slowed it down from 2.53 ghz to 2.43 (IIRC) and the crashes went away! (Asus P4B533)

I meant to write "no more crashes". I'm not overclocking but the accellerator was on full. I thought it might have been the intro project I was working on. 7 video tracks with complex keyframing. Since this was only my second edit using Vegas I wasn't sure how unusual it is to crash. It always came back up to my work though, never lost anything. Just slightly annoying to have to rename the project.
This is a GREAT forum. Thanks again for the help.

Dropping down one notch in W2k fixed everything for me - i.e. all the text functions worked properly.

Thanks mfh,
This is my plan too. One notch down at a time.
