Question for People who can't render

Former user wrote on 12/18/2011, 7:47 AM
I have one computer which has only had V11 installed. It was a clean Windows 7 32 bit install.

I have another computer which had V10 previously. I uninstalled it an installed 11. Both worked well until the last v11 update. The first computer, clean original install, updated fine. The version that had remnants of V10 would not let me render to ANY format after updating. I had to do a clean uninstall of all things Sony per the knowledge base and that fixed it.

Question for those who are having problems rendering to any format , Did you have V10 installed previously?

I am thinking that V11 is getting the directories for I/O formats hosed.
At one point, Windows told me I did not have permission to delete the I/O formats folder.

hmm, i have v10 32bit and 64bit installed, plus v11 (511) 64bit. It all seems to be getting along nicely. Weird isnt it?

Dave,

See if you have anything checked in the MIDI tab of the preferences dialog.

If so, uncheck them and try again.

That's what fixed things for me.

Michael - you saved me quite a bit of frustration - thanks for finding this bug. I too had my MIDI box checked prior to installing v511 as I was using a midi device last week in Vegas. I couldn't render anything in version 511 x64 until I unchecked the MIDI box (even though there was no audio in the project).

Has anyone reported this bug?

Another lesson - I was still getting some crashes from the Sony Text plug in (didn't test too many others-but others have been complaining about it), but I read the thread about upgrading to Nvidia 285.79 beta drivers - did that and the stability is there.

Two lessons - uncheck the MIDI box (bug), and update your video drivers (if you have an NVIDIA card - seems to have done the trick...more tests tomorrow.

I'm seeing configuring Vegas Pro 11 build 510/511 to use a Midi port (for my external control, a Mackie MCU HUI) causing the render crash.

Removing configuration to use a Midi port clears up the problem.

Is there a bypass / fix coming?
