Question Re Installation - Told to Come Here When I posted to Magix

ILoveAI wrote on 11/1/2023, 8:30 PM

Hi everyone, I have mucked up my installation and am looking for help. I'll try to be as succinct as I can.

I downloaded Vegas Pro 21 yesterday. To my C Drive.

Then I decided to opt in for a TRIAL of Vegas Pro Post and decided to put the files on my F Drive as I don't have much room left on my C Drive.

Then today I decided to subscribe so I would have access to stock footage etc. and most of the files were already downloaded as part of the trial yesterday so I hit "cancel" on those particular ones. I put each of the addons in their own folder that I created on my F Drive thinking Vegas Pro 21 would know where to look. But it doesn't.

Now because I subscribed and downloaded more files I have two Vegas Pro 21 folders in my program files directory and I cannot download stock footage.

Do I need to completely reinstall Vegas Pro 21, or can I do a complete new reinstall of all the Vegas Pro Post files and put them in the right place, now that I'm subscribed. If so, where do they all go please? I have searched the forums for "installation location" and looked elsewhere for the answer but nothing has come up.

I have since deleted all the files installed on my F Drive (both as part of the trial and as part of the subscription) except Acid Pro which won't delete and keeps telling me it is in use when I don't have Vegas Pro 21 open or anything apart from the file explorer at the time.

Do I even need to worry about this. Can I put all of the addons in folders of my choosing. If this is the case, then why can I still not access stock footage please.

I feel a bit stupid but it is what it is. Could someone please help me and thank you

@ILoveAI You've solved your Hub Content Download problem in your thread https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/active-subscriptions-show-downloads-available-but--143248/

Is there anything in this thread which is still unresolved and you need help with?

It would make sense to 1). Make space on your C: drive, by moving files such as video, photos and games to your F: drive and making sure you let the programs on C: know where the moved files are located, or 2). even better buy a larger SSD and clone your current C: drive to increase current capacity. Vegas is best installed on your C: drive. Also really avoid going into the registry and deleting entries unless you know what you are doing.

@Ian-mLMC Thank you, I'll try deactivating the common version on my computer. That makes sense. @andyrpsmith I have a new computer with a 4TB SSD. There's a lot of assumptions there. All files were installed on C drive. I won't be going to the registry. Thank you for your response though

Wait, sorry, what do you mean by deactivate the common version on my computer. I have Vegas Pro 21 on my computer. I used to subscribe to Post 365 a while back and this is a new subscription restarted after a few months. I don't have Version 22, and the installation is stopped at 0% installing. I'm confused and I'm sorry.

I found out how to deactivate my current version. I still have the same problem.

Okay. I have opened Vegas Pro 21 with the new serial number I received today and I can access stock footage etc. However this is Version 21 and the Vegas Pro Suite 365 comes with Version 22 and that is not downloading and won't move past 0% and the Continue button won't work.

I'm downloading Version 22 from within Version 21. Thanks everyone.
