Which group rules do you mean? I didn't know groups had rules??

But to answer the first part of your question - that is totally up to your. I have been playing around with SoFo Producs (Audio and now Video) for years and have run into situations where I put an event on a line that is suppose to be for the event directly above it....and then totally forget it is there when I made a move. Now it is no longer with the item I wanted it to be with. So yes...group the objects.

However, This happens to me so rare...that sometimes it's just a waste of my time to "Always" do that.

So...which ever makes you feel comfortable when you are producing your work is the answer to that.

"Groups" basically tie events together so that if you move one, you move all members of the group. I often have two or three video tracks that I group together once I have them synchronized (lip-sync). Then, moving one moves them all, keeping them together and maintaining sync.

There are many ways to make "point of view" cuts; my favorite is to have all three tracks on the timeline and use amplitude envelopes to control fades and cuts. Having the three tracks grouped makes this easier.
