Questions about Vegas Pro 21 Installation and Plugins

Debbie-Whitmer wrote on 8/25/2023, 5:13 PM

I have three (3) quick questions which all relate to the same issue.  I currently use Vegas Pro 20 (with Windows 11).  I also use the following plugins:

• NewBlueFX:  Filters 5 Ultimate,

• NewBlueFX Transitions 3 Ultimate,

• NewBlueFX Transitions 5 Flow,

• NewBlueFX Elements 3 Overlay which all the above have a FX Manager

• BorisFX:  Boris FX Continuum Lense Flare 3D (which has no manager you just install it).

My three (3) questions are the following:

1.  If I buy Vegas Pro 21 Suite OR Vegas Pro 21 Post upgrade, do I have to deactivate all these plugins FIRST by going to the NewBlueFX website and THEN installing Vegas Pro 21?

2.  If I do have to deactivate all the aforementioned NewBlueFX plugins, when I reactivate them, will they ALL still work in Vegas Pro 20 as well as Vegas Pro 21 at the same time?

3.  Do I need to uninstall the Boris FX Continuum Lense Flare 3D plugin FIRST BEFORE installing Vegas Pro 21 and then reinstall Boris FX Continuum Lense Flare 3D plugin and then will this plugin still work in Vegas Pro 20 as well as Vegas Pro 21?

Thank you for your help!  I look forward to your reply!

I also have all these plug-ins and did not disable or uninstall them before installing VP21 Post Suite.
I have not seen any problems with this.
Since I still own Videodeluxe aka Magix Movie.... , Vitascene 5 Pro was also installed and is then accessible in Vegas as well, vice versa also BCC plug-ins from Vegas in other Magix programs.

You can simply go right ahead and install Vegas 21. No need to deactivate anything. All your plugins should easily be available in the new version after installation.

@Steve_Rhoden - Hi there. Thank you so much for this confirmation! It does make it sooo much easier if I didn't have to deactivate all those plugins and then reactivate again. You have been very helpful and I thank you so much! I think I may be purchasing Vegas Pro 21 Post. Thanks again!!

@Debbie-Whitmer Hi, just to confirm, I don't think i have ever deactivated plugins for an upgrade, If you have any problems later with plugins not showing or working they should be able to be resolved 👍

No, you do not.

2.  If I do have to deactivate all the aforementioned NewBlueFX plugins, when I reactivate them, will they ALL still work in Vegas Pro 20 as well as Vegas Pro 21 at the same time?

Yes you can and yes they will.
