Quick time non support by Apple

I have uninstalled quick time from my computer due to the DHS report that since apple isn't supporting it anymore for Windows the computer is at risk for hacking. Is there a work around for this I use footage from Atomos shogun and neither the pro res or the dnxhd are recognized by Vegas without quick time. Is there a way to just get the quicktime codecs without actually installing quicktime on the computer?

simply install qt and rename quicktimeplayer.exe

use vlc or whatever to view .mov files

I've have tried renaming and it doesn't work. It appears Vegas looks for the QuickTimePlayer.exe and if it isn't there will not load the ProRes/DNxHD source.

- Vegas Pro 13, Movie Studio 12/13 Platinum
- ProRes and DNxHD (mov) files from the Atomos Samurai Blade

So, having the codec is only half of it, Vegas still needs to see the QuickTimePlayer.exe. I also tried a null file named 'QuickTimePlayer.exe' and that didn't work either.

I have read that QuickTime Alternative may work, but I have not yet tried it, and haven't read any success stories. Here is a link to a recent try: https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/24/998235
