QuickTime Driving me nuts

Widetrack wrote on 1/12/2004, 12:55 PM
this is gonna drive me postal.

Vegas 4.0e won't render QuickTime movies. I get the message:

"An error occurred while creating the media file QTTest.mov. The file could not be created."

I asked this earlier in the formu and followed the advice to reinstall QT (5.0.2, Pro) and Vegas.

no dice.

I have a feeling it's a QT issue, since I also cannot export .wav or .AVI files as QT movies from the QT player, getting the message:

“Couldn’t export the movie “QTTest.wav” because the file was not found.”

I got a good fast machine with lots of ram and disk Everything else in vegas works fine: renders to veverything else ok.

Any clues?

You need to download and install the FULL Quicktime app, complete with the authoring tools, instead of just the player. You can do this for free at www.quicktime.com. Might as well upgrade to 6 while you're there.

Tried reinstalling Vegas? Maybe it's not recognizing the QT codec?

Just a guess.

In Vegas, what QT render settings are you using?
Widetrack wrote on 1/13/2004, 12:42 PM
Using default settings:Audio: 44,100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
Video: 29.970 fps, 720x480x32.

Here's a ball-buster: on a Win 98 SE machine where I have Vegas installed as a backup, I upgraded to QT 6.5, restarted and now I can render QT. So I went to my main production PC (Win 2k, faster, more disk space and RAM, etc) tried the same thing and it still gives me the same erro rmessage from Vegas. Can't check i QT reders because I don't have the QT Pro in this version.
