We are importing .mov files all the time but NOT Flash Quicktime mov's.
It's confusing because they all look the same, but if your mov's are created in Flash you won't be able to get them into Vegas.
The workaround is to render the Flash files as numbered JPEG's. Vegas imports these and all is well.

I had this problem awhile ago with .mov files. It turned out that when I had installed quicktime, I didn't choose to load their authoring option, which needs to be selected in order to edit any .mov files. Try installing Quicktime again and choose a custom install and make sure you select the authoring option. -Shon

THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT IF YOU WANT TO IMPORT QUICKTIME FILES!

If you instal Quicktime, you'll be able to import .mov files into VV, but the quality is absolutely horrible! Quicktime uses a realtime decompression codec that quite plainly sucks. This is also used unfortunately by the SF batch convert program. What you need to do to import .mov files properly is to get Quicktime Pro, load the .mov clips you want to use one at a time into Quicktime Pro and export them as .avi files. This is a slow render and an absolute pain in the butt, but the quality is easily ten times better. One other thing that helps a little is that Quicktime Pro lets you trim the file before you export it. This is important because the rendering time is really long. You hate to waste the time on portions of the clips you are planning to scrap anyway. If somebody knows a better way to do this let me know.
