You need to have ALL components of Quicktime installed, authoring and otherwise. When you download Quicktime, you MUST select the "recommended" radio button to get the full deal, not just the player. That will clear your error, or it should. Where did the quicktime originate? What codec does it contain? That's another potential trouble spot.
