QuickTime plug-in error...HELP!!

I have Sony Vegas Studio Platinum 8.0a. When I add any type of file, or open a project containing any kind of file relating to QuickTime, it says that QuickTime can't initialize and tells me to re-install it. I have tried re-installing the newest version several times and it still doesn't work. I have read that authoring components are needed, but I can't find how to install them. On the installation wizard, there is no option to do a manual install. Any help on this would be great because Vegas won't open my 50 minute project as a result. Thanks in advance!

P.S. the newer version of QuickTime I installed is 7.55.90.70

hm... I ran VMS8 some weeks ago without QT or iTunes on my (new) system and it worked just fine. Make sure you install your software, both QT and Vegas, as administrator. Are you working with Vista?

Yes, I am working with 32 bit Vista. I contacted Sony Vegas Technical Support and they recommended installing the newest update, so I did, and it still doesn't work. I installed both of the programs as administrator, as far as I know. The program functions okay, it is just when I try to add any files that contain anything QuickTime related, such as .mov video files or MPEG-4 audio files. There are probably several other types it won’t run, but these are the major two I have run into.

Both files you mention are 'delivery formats'. They are not to be edited. When Vegas 8b lists it as compatible with, it means it can render to that format, it doesn't mean you can import and edit the format.

The thing is, I always could edit them and add them to the project media list...and then it suddenly stopped working. And when I try to open my 50 minute project, which has always worked before, it says that the specified format could not be initialized. I click okay on that message and opening closes and I am left with a blank project, like when you start up the program.
