Quicktime problem with DVD Architect 5.0 and Win 7

I don't know if this is a Quicktime or DVD Architect problem so I am asking in both.

I am trying to create a DVD using Sony DVD Architect Studio 5.0.
I open the program, create a new project and start to add .mp4 files.
I am greeted by a dialog stating:

The Sony QuickTime plugin was not able to initialise the QuickTime components on
your system. It appears that QuickTime for Windows is not properly installed.

QuickTime files cannot be read or written without a full installation of the QuickTime
version 7.1.6 or greater components, including the authoring components.

If you are connected to the internet, QuickTime can be installed from the following

location:
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download.

I download the installer from this link and run it. I am informed that QuickTime installed successfully.
I then try to create the DVD again, with exactly the same result. Apple Software Update tells me that
version 7.7.4 is available. I download and install this and try to create the DVD with the same
result yet again.

Can anyone help ?

Mp4s don't make for the best source files for DVD Architect. (Neither does video directly from a camcorder.)

You really should load your source video into Vegas/Movie Studio and output a DVD-ready MPEG2 from it to load into DVD Architect.

DVD Architect is a disc authoring program. It's not designed to work with a wide variety for video formats.

There are only two acceptable formats for importing in DV Architect to author DVD or Blu-ray....that being 1) elementary and appropriate video (usually encoded Mpeg2) and audio ( PCM or AC3/pro) or 2) Sony MXF ( which is Mpeg2) for video stream.

Using the correct source, QT doesn't figure in to the dvd equation at all.
