I have just installed Vegas 7.0b and it limits me to 1g for Ram preview rendering? Why? I have 4g of ram on a Win XP 64, AMD2x64 5000. Vegas 5 let me use 4g to pre render preview. What's up here? Please help. Thanks. LarryD
Noting that you didn't get any responses to your post, the general thoughts seem to be that Vegas, being a 32bit application, cannot access more than 2GB of memory and that in fact Vegas limits itself to 1GB for ram preview. However you have evidence that V5 allowed more. Maybe someone else can be more helpful.
I just checked my machine. I upgraded my RAM from 1GB to 2GB when I was on V6, so I never really noticed before.
V7: Max = 1024 MB
V6: Max = 1024 MB
V5: Max = 1919 MB
If the developers discovered a problem with > 1024, then the conservative remedy would be to prevent values greater than a safe allocation. A note in V6's Release Notes would have been warranted. It could be there, maybe I missed it.
