Ram usage/ Editing speed

I have 2G Ram (1.6G processor) but my MS Platinum slows down and almost locks up at times when I am busy "Nudging" video clips along the timeline or doing various other tasks one after the other.

Isn't there a setting in the program that I can go to to change the alotted Ram for MS Platinum? Or hoiw do I clear the clipboard if that's a viable question for this little troubling situation.

I have RamRocket and ever so often the page comes up that I still have 1058 Ram available... as though something has "asked" for more Ram.... if that makes any sense.

I'm sure you Guys have an answer for this one.

Thanks
John

It's the undo buffer that uses the most memory when editing. I don't know how to change this in Movie Studio.

I use Vegas Pro and follow this workflow -- when the memory starts to fill up, I save the project (usually under a new name), close the program and open it again. It doesn't hurt to save every hour or so, and doing this flushes the buffer and most of the memory associated with the program.

Hello again. It's good to hear from you once more.

I just ordered
Movie Studio Pro Pak (Upgraded) and ...after listening to your astute advice I am ordering a dual core 2.66GHz/ 250G HD/ Invidia GForce 9800/ DVD dual layer burner and 4 G Ram... from Tiger Direct.
That should cure some of the slowing down issues.. Eh?

However, I will still pursue the Ram issue on this computer. I know there has to be a way to "quicken" this puppy a little... don't you think?

I thank you for your input. It has been a good lesson for me thus far and I hope to learn even more on the hardware side so I can do better on the sofware side.

Blessings my friend
John
