Rays FX / static position

jts_2009 wrote on 2/5/2026, 12:02 PM

Hello. I want the light rays effect to stay in the position it's in in the screenshot. I have some tracking data on that lamp. But as soon the camera moves, the light rays are changing their light direction. is there any way to fix this somehow..?

@jts_2009 I don't think you can do that with Vegas Rays or Newblue Rays (Vegas Rays doesn't show the light position on the preview for me, but Newblue does as in your pic, that's why I mention Newblue)

You'd need the light position to be fixed/tracked to that spot you've chosen, BCC+Rays uses Mocha Tracking to do this.

I have tracking data from mocha. the source of these rays stays at lamp, but the rays themselves change direction when camera moves. Here is example of other frame

oh ok. you use it directly from fx. thanks. i also got it. It's not the rays moves. The rays are stationary, but since the mask is moving, it cuts/displays the rays, making it look like they're moving. the mask affect the rays.

@jts_2009

That's what I was saying earlier 'BCC+Rays uses Mocha Tracking to do this',, Sorry I assumed you knew or would understand that a lot of BCC fx have built in Mocha.

There's no way I know of to link an external tracker like Vegas tracking or Mocha Vegas tracking to the light source of a Ray fx's or any 'source point' in other fxs for that matter. You can track something, use that tracking to add masks or place images/videos but not link that tracking data to the parameters of an fx.

@jts_2009 🤷‍♂️ That sounds like a layering issue, you want your rays on top of the masks, so whatever fx chain or layer tree you're using rearrange the fxs & masks.
